About SMARTNESS Participation in Futurecom 2023

The participation of Smartness 2030, through its Principal Investigator (PI), Prof. Christian Esteve Rothenberg, focused on the connectivity perspectives for cutting-edge networks, commonly called 6G. The starting question, title of the presentation, was: What will connectivity and its consequences be like in the next generation? Thinking of 6G as an evolution of 5G, 6G will be able to explore concepts such as Immersive Communication, Global Broadband, Spatiotemporal Services, Critical Services and Computer AI Services. Thus, the uses of 6G include connecting everything, controlling it remotely, and sharing experiences. Therefore, 6G visions encompass Beyond Slicing + subnetworks through hardware abstraction. Furthermore, in addition to 5G, 6G must work especially with private networks through local and infra-content providers. In short, the role of connectivity will increase dramatically. From now on, the research strands will work through case uses based on Science and Tech Driven approaches, such as Sustainability (SUS), Cognitive Architectures (CA), Customized Edge Computing (CEC), Trustworthiness (TRU): Security, Privacy, Safety and Ethics; Fluid Control and Data Plans (FCD). 6G will bring immersive communication together with the Internet of Senses.
