Prof. Christian Rothenberg, Principal Investigator of the SMARTNESS Research Center recently represented the center at several significant European academic events.
- EuCNC CONASENSE 2024: At the prestigious EuCNC (European Conference on Networks and Communications) event, as part of the program of the CONASENSE workshop, Prof. Rothenberg presented ongoing research efforts in Brazil towards 6G along with the vision, mode of operation, and expected innovations from the SMARTNESS Center. During the event, Prof. Rothenberg highlighted multiple fruitful meetings, to cite a few with the SMARTNESS IAB member Luis Miguel Contreras (Telefonica), Paulo Rufino (CTIF Global Capsule/ Aarhus University), Rute Sofia (fortiss), and Gergely Pongracz (Ericsson Research). Gergely is a key technical collaborator of one active Work Package of SMARTNESS within the NEWTON research strand.
- Technical University of Delft: During a visit to the research group led by Prof. Fernando Kuipers, the Principal Investigator introduced the SMARTNESS research center and its active research activities. The meeting fostered discussions on potential collaborations aroudn programmable data planes among other forward looking topics in scope of the Future Network Services (FNS), the flagship of Netherlands towards 6G.
- University of Amsterdam: The Principal Investigator also visited the Multiscale Network Systems (MNS) research group of the Institute for Informatics. Hosted by Prof. Chrysa Papagianni and Prof. Paola Grosso, oroductive discussions were carried out to identify potential collaborative research between MNS and SMARTNESS, including specific student exchange opportunities starting in 2025.
These dissemination actions and engagements mark significant steps of SMARTNESS towards expanding international collaboration network and academic reach.
