Last Thursday, November 14, Prof. Luiz Bittencourt, SMARTNESS researcher, received at UNICAMP’s Instituto de Computação a new visit from Prof. Fredrik Heintz and PhD student Amath Sow from Linköping University, Sweden. The meeting was also attended by Valeria Marquezini and Klaus Raizer from Ericsson Research Brazil, Prof. Fabiola Oliveira from UFABC, and UNICAMP students Lucas Soares, Mauricio Rodriguez, and Heictor Costa.
During this visit, several key points were discussed to look for future collaborations in the research groups. In the morning, Prof. Luiz spoke in general about the working packages under development within the DEMIST research strand: drone collision avoidance algorithms and video streaming. Then, Fabiola presented the latest advances in drone delivery scenarios, Heictor summarized his hypotheses and ideas with which he is starting his PhD research topic, Amath presented his latest PhD advances, and Mauricio showed a work in development as part of his PhD proposal on the creation of a new simulator for aerial and non-aerial vehicles. In the afternoon, Lucas, Amath, Mauricio, and Heictor discussed future collaborations between the research groups using drone simulators, control, and path-planning algorithms. Meanwhile, Prof. Fredrik met with Ericsson researchers to align the progress in the different lines of research. To conclude the visit, Eduardo Gama presented the latest results in his research related to video streaming.
Research group collaboration is expected to begin in the coming days, especially in creating papers for international conferences.
