Prof. Rafael Pasquini from the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia and Prof. Christian Esteve Rothenberg, PI and Director of SMARTNESS, contributed to the Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Cyber-Physical Systems, held at the Faculty of Engineering at the Universidad de la República (UdelaR) in Uruguay. The event was organized by MINA Network Management/Artificial Intelligence, encouraging the intersection of AI, machine learning (ML), and networking technologies.
Over two intensive days, the short course on AI for Networking covered 12 hours of theoretical knowledge, hands-on activities, and practical examples. Topics covered included ML and AI applications in networking, leveraging SMARTNESS expertise, and AI4NETS tutorials by Pedro Casas. The sessions also featured results from Raza Ul Mustafa PhD thesis “Machine learning assisted DASH video QoE inference through network QoS features in 4G and 5G scenarios”.
With more than 30 attendees from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, the workshop reflected SMARTNESS’ commitment to education and the dissemination of state-of-the-art research. Special thanks were extended to the UdelaR team, including Javier Baliosian, Matias Richart, Federico Martin, Jorge Visca, Gonzalo Tejera, Facundo Benavides and Eduardo Grampin, for their exceptional organization and hospitality.
This collaboration highlights the mission of SMARTNESS in fostering international partnerships in advancing research and education.
