SMARTNESS participates in the PPDG Mentorship – Workshop: Overview of Research Management

On November 8, 2024, Dr. Eduardo José Sartori, Technology Transfer Manager of CPE SMARTNESS 2030, participated in the event “PPDG Mentorship – Workshop: Overview of Research Management,” held at the INOVA auditorium, organized by the Research Pro-Rectory (PRP) of UNICAMP.

The workshop aimed to discuss issues related to meta-research and research management in an environment designed to strengthen the Postdoctoral Program in Research Management (PPDG). This initiative aligns with the PRP’s efforts to provide institutional support to major thematic research centers accredited by the PRP, fostering discussions on best research practices and striving to enhance the intellectual, economic, and social impacts of the research conducted at the institution.

According to Prof. Dr. Ana Maria Frattini Fileti, Pro-Rector for Research at UNICAMP, “the objective of the PPDG program is to build a research network in research management that not only serves as a support for the field but also generates performance indicators”. She also highlighted that the field of research management is very recent, especially in Brazil, and requires strong support for its proper development.

To this end, eight topics previously selected by the PRP were presented, and attendees were divided into five groups to discuss and identify three key topics for more focused study and implementation. This approach aims to create a systematic methodology for more effective study and application, thereby strengthening the development of a research management network at UNICAMP.

Dr. Ana Frattini also announced that negotiations are underway to create permanent positions for the role of “Research Manager” at UNICAMP, as a way to solidify this activity within the university.
