On June 26, 2025, SMARTNESS took part in the seventh edition of the “Olhos no Futuro” project, an initiative by UNICAMP in partnership with CPTEn, aimed at promoting the concept of decent work among school-age children and adolescents. The program aligns with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and seeks to empower youth, prevent child labor, and raise awareness about exploitative working conditions, including practices analogous to slavery.
This year, approximately 300 students from public schools in the Campinas-SP region visited the university campus and participated in various thematic workshops held across different colleges and institutes.
Representing SMARTNESS, Dr. Eduardo Sartori (Technology Transfer Manager) and researchers Rafael Pedrosa da Silva Clerici and Alcides Tomás welcomed 28 students from the “Dr. Telêmaco Paioli Melges” School in Sumaré-SP for the “Immersive Reality” workshop. During the session, students had the opportunity to learn about the technologies developed by the center, tour the laboratories, and experience virtual and augmented reality applications firsthand using VR headsets.
The SMARTNESS team is already working to expand these educational activities, aiming to reach a larger number of schools and students in the region. The goal is to introduce young people to advanced technologies through engaging and accessible experiences that spark curiosity and interest in learning. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming initiatives focused on education and social outreach.
