SMARTNESS welcomed a delegation from the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) on September 29th, 2025, as part of a series of initiatives carried out in partnership with the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL). The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation in research, innovation, and the development of telecommunications standards.
Standardization specialists Mariana de Hoyos and Xavier Piednoir were received by Dr. Eduardo Sartori , SMARTNESS Technology Transfer Manager. The agenda included institutional presentations by Prof. Dr. Hugo Figueroa , Director of FEEC at UNICAMP, and Prof. Dr. Christian Rothenberg, Director of SMARTNESS.
During the meeting, Mr. Piednoir presented an overview of ETSI’s activities, emphasizing opportunities for collaboration between ETSI and SMARTNESS — particularly in the development of technical standards and in education and dissemination of standardization knowledge.
The delegation also toured the FEEC facilities and the recently inaugurated SMARTNESS STUDIO 5G , where they explored cutting-edge research projects and technology prototypes developed by SMARTNESS teams.
Following the visit, both institutions took steps to expand communication channels, paving the way for a future strategic partnership focused on advancing telecommunications innovation and standards.
