A delegation from the Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems (IMM) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), led by Dr. Walter Fuscaldo, visited SMARTNESS on November 24 and 25 as part of the CNR–CNPq Bilateral Project 2025-2026. The initiative strengthens ongoing research and development collaborations between FEEC/Unicamp and IMM, with a focus on sub-THz antenna technologies.
On November 24, the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Eduardo Sartori, Technology Transfer Manager at SMARTNESS and Technical Coordinator of the Laboratory of Applied and Computational Electromagnetism (LEMAC). The visit included guided tours of the SMARTNESS STUDIO 5G (SS5G), LEMAC-FEEC, and the LEMAC PHOTONICAMP laboratories.
On November 25, Dr. Fuscaldo delivered a lecture titled “METASURFace ANTennas for High-Rate Sub-THz Wireless Indoor Communications.” He and the IMM team were received by Prof. Dr. Hugo Figueroa, Director of FEEC and Partnerships Coordinator at SMARTNESS. The session provided an opportunity for the scientific community to engage with IMM’s most recent advances in metasurface antenna research.
This visit reinforces the intention of both institutions to expand their collaboration and pursue new joint research endeavors in the coming years.
