CAMPINAS, Brazil — July 9, 2026 — The European Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (EU SNS JU) has officially launched the PROSPERO project, an international research initiative focused on defining key architectures and technological pillars for 6G communication networks.
Highlighted by Prof. Christian Esteve Rothenberg, Director of the SMARTNESS Research Center at UNICAMP, the kickoff of PROSPERO marks a significant milestone for international academic and industrial alignment. Through collaborative research, SMARTNESS aligns its focus on cognitive networks, programmable data planes, and AI-driven network automation with leading European academic and industrial partners.
The initiative underscores SMARTNESS’s active role in global 6G research consortia, strengthening ties between Brazilian telecommunications research hubs and international standards development.
