Smartness 2030 wants to welcome the new postdoctoral researcher Fabíola Martins Campos de Oliveira!

On February 23rd, 2024, the CPE SMARTNESS held its joint technical weekly hour, with the participation of approximately 30 researchers.

Part of the Smartness 2030 team visited the Facens campus in Sorocaba and experienced this reality (augmented, virtual and expanded - the conjunction of both). The unbelievable experience of this expanded reality, which unites the physical and virtual worlds, contributes to one of the most promising application areas for 5G and 6G networks.

Professor Christian Rothenberg (Unicamp) and Dr. Maria Valéria Marquezini (Ericsson), director and vice-director of CPE SMARTNESS, participated in the NSF/FAPESP Engineering Research Centers (ERC) workshop.

Klaus Raizer, Ericsson researcher in the AI area and former FEEC student, ministered a guest lecture on Digital Twins and 6G network automation on Thursday, December 7, 2023, as part of the seminar series grad class at FEEC-UNICAMP led by Prof. Christian Rothenberg.

Among the subjects offered with places for special students, check out the subject IA382 (Seminars in Computer Engineering) of 02 credits, which in 1H/2024 will be offered for the first time 100% remotely and in English.

The participation of Smartness 2030, through its Principal Investigator (PI), Prof. Christian Esteve Rothenberg, focused on the connectivity perspectives for cutting-edge networks, commonly called 6G. The starting question, title of the presentation, was: What will connectivity and its consequences be like in the next generation?

In a guest lecture for the cutting-edge computing domain, SMARTNESS associate researcher Professor Eduardo Cerqueira from UFPA (Federal University of Pará) took center stage as he delivered a captivating lecture. The lecture, held at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) at UNICAMP, was an enlightening exploration into the realm of Immersive Communications within the context of 6G systems. Professor Cerqueira's presentation specifically shed light on the exciting frontier of Holographic-Type Communications (HTC).

Members of the INTRIG group from UNICAMP, Brazil, recently participated in NetSoft 2023, a prominent conference focusing on advancing future networks through softwarization.
