About the Position

SMARTNESS is a joint research center led by UNICAMP, USP, and UFSCar, with support from Ericsson and FAPESP. Focused on the future of computer networks and digital services, SMARTNESS brings together interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for the evolution of networking and services towards 2030. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join SMARTNESS in the area of Education Management and Knowledge Dissemination (EDK). The fellowship will be granted by the PROGRAM FOR SUPPORT OF THE MANAGEMENT OF LARGE THEMATIC RESEARCH CENTERS - POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN RESEARCH MANAGEMENT (PPDG), from the Research Provost's Office at UNICAMP, according to Call for Applications 002-2024 [link].

Research and Management Responsibilities

This postdoctoral position combines academic research with hands-on management of the education and dissemination strategies at SMARTNESS. The research to be developed by the fellow must be consistent with the Education Management and Knowledge Dissemination objectives of SMARTNESS Center and be contextualized within the theme of Meta-Research, an emerging field in the academic context, encompassing the study of the principles, guidelines, strategies, configurations, and practices employed to manage research projects embedded in different institutional arrangements, aiming to meet the needs of the Centers. The proposals and appeals submitted under this Call for Applications will be reviewed by a Committee appointed by the Research Provost's Office, composed of faculty members or researchers from the University, under technical criteria and potential conflicts of interest. After approval, the selected fellow will:

Conduct research aligned with Meta-Research frameworks, focusing on how knowledge is produced, communicated, and mobilized in large research centers;
Actively plan, implement, and evaluate strategies for science communication and public engagement across platforms (social media, events, publications, workshops, etc.);
Support training activities for researchers and students in topics related to dissemination, communication, and knowledge translation;
Help design and manage metrics and evaluation tools for EDK strategies (audience reach, engagement, accessibility);
Collaborate with other management areas of SMARTNESS to integrate education and dissemination into broader institutional goals.

Desired skills:

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a combination of academic expertise and project management skills who is comfortable navigating the intersection between research and practice.

Desired qualifications:

PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Education, Communication, or related areas;
Experience in science communication, educational project coordination, or research dissemination;
Strong organizational and communication skills;

Monthly stipend: The gross monthly amount of the fellowship will be R$11,258.54 (eleven thousand, two hundred and fifty-eight reais and fifty-four cents), which, after income tax deduction, will result in a net amount of R$9,047.40 (nine thousand and forty-seven reais and forty cents).
